Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, who held the position of Deputy National Women Leader within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has recently tendered her resignation from this role within the party’s hierarchy.
Wanka conveyed her decision to step down through an official resignation letter addressed to the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Iliya Damagun. The letter was subsequently submitted to the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
This move comes as a result of Hajiya Wanka’s new appointment as a commissioner in the administration of Bala Mohammed in Bauchi State. She has expressed deep gratitude to both the national leadership of the PDP and Governor Bala Mohammed for the opportunities she has received.
Hajiya Wanka had previously served as a Special Adviser under the leadership of former Bauchi State Governor, Dr. Mallam Isah Yuguda. Her extensive experience during her tenure as the Deputy National Women Leader of the party has provided her with valuable insights that she intends to leverage in her new role as commissioner.
The PDP has warmly congratulated Hajiya Wanka on her appointment as a Commissioner in the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed. In an official statement issued by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, her appointment is lauded as a testament to her competence and exceptional abilities.
Ologunagba further commends Hajiya Wanka’s selfless dedication, administrative acumen, and commitment to the progress of the PDP, Bauchi State, and the nation as a whole. The party acknowledges her leadership qualities, which were evident during her tenure as Deputy National Women Leader and in other responsibilities entrusted to her by the party.
Governor Bala Mohammed’s decision to appoint Hajiya Wanka is also recognized by the PDP as a demonstration of his commitment to recognizing merit and selecting the most capable individuals for the betterment of Bauchi State’s administration.
Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, a descendant of notable figures including the late Alhaji Yakubu Wanka, former CBN Director, and the late Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, has a history of public service. She previously served as the Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals during Dr. Mallam Isah Yuguda’s tenure as Bauchi State Governor.
Notably, Hajiya Wanka is also the CEO of the Hajara Wanka Foundation, a recognized philanthropist, and has a track record of effectively addressing the eight Millennium Development Goals in the state. These goals encompass areas such as poverty and hunger eradication, universal primary education, gender equality promotion, child mortality reduction, maternal health improvement, combating diseases including HIV/AIDS and malaria, ensuring environmental sustainability, and fostering global development partnerships.
